Summary and Update
The Education Subcommittee supports the recommendations outlined in the Charleston Green Plan and works to support the implementation of these efforts through education and awareness efforts. Working closely with the City’s Director of Sustainability and the Green Committee’s Subcommittee members, the Education Subcommittee will act as a research and resource base, and will rely on the combined skills of its members to address larger outreach goals and to “message” our communities opportunities and successes.
From training volunteers to collect recyclables at city events to creating resource guide on the web for residents interested in weatherizing their homes, the Education Subcommittee will help residents implement the programs that will move the plan’s recommendations forward into everyday practice.
Specifically, the Education Subcommittee will focus on the following:
- Provide volunteer training and support
- Research and resource development
- Develop curriculum and outreach
